Need I say more? Time for me to go home and catch the closing ceremonies
As I write this we’re about to go into overtime in the Canada vs USA hockey game. It’s been hard to concentrate on kiltmaking, watching the tweets come in on the updates of the game.
Friend of mine came into the shop, it was great to see Scott.
I was working on a Taupe Hemp Kilt, unfortunately won’t be able to finish today.
Overtime period about to begin….gotta go.

This morning I was greeted with a bit of snow on the ground, no problem. Get the shovel out and clear the sidewalk in front of the store as well as my neighbours. (I need the exercise) As I was clearing the snow in front of York Street Kitchen, my friends David and Alan signal me to join them for breakfast. It’s 8:00am I wanted to get an early start, but what the heck. So breakfast it was at York Street Kitchen.

Enjoyed my breakfast then took the 16 steps back to my shop to finish off a black hemp kilt.
It was quiet on the street, I was in the shop alone listening to CBC radio, checkin’ my social media pages, responding to posts. Graham commented that I should get back to work. He’s one of my best customers and resides in Tasmania. The reason he wants me to spend the long hours in the shop is he’s waiting on the first “Army green hemp kilt”!!!!
Below is a photo of what was done today. I put on buckles, rivets, and made a ranger belt to finish the one black hemp kilt, then laid out, top stitched assembled the second kilt. The second will be finished tomorrow morning and I then will start on a taupe one to match the black one. (One customer knew he was going to enjoy the kilt so he ordered two at the same time).

All in all a productive day. Time to go home and mark some papers
Cheers

Yes it’s been miserable all day…well outside that is

Jessie’s been busy redesigning the website, Lance was in again today learning how to braid and I continued to work on a hemp kilt.
Re-arranged the store again, adding more shelves. Received some novelty socks just cause they’re fun. Pictures to follow.
Have a great weekend all
Cheers

Just got back from the post office where I dropped off a leather kilt heading for Pennsylvania. A brisk walk, my legs were fine, but a cold north wind would make the pleats dance.
Spring is around the corner, and I won’t deny it, I’m looking forward to warmer weather.
Lance (co-op student) was in for a few hours and turned out 10 lovely straps for the braided sporran belts. I will get him to make more components tomorrow and perhaps Kilt belts next week.
Customer just came into the shop to pick-up his black hemp kilt equipped with a dare from his family to wear it home in, what appears to be, the coldest day of February.

We’re tough up here in Canada
Stay warm
enjoy
Cheers
